At one point, one of the challenges we were dealt was to combine a "Frenzy" and a "Freeze" power up in the game's arcade mode. But the levelling system doesn't always take that randomness into account. If every game was identical, it would be boring to say the least. Naturally, Fruit Ninja has random elements. However, there's an issue with regards to the game's randomness. This is all well and good and is a nice way of doing things, for the greater part. Collect enough medals and your ninja level goes up. Once you beat a challenge, it's replaced with another one for you to take on. ![]() At any time, there are three possible challenges to beat, with each completion resulting in you being awarded a medal. This levelling system is a nice addition, but it has some problems. Multiplayer is available for up to four players – two at a time with quick changes – and a new levelling system sees you trying to complete challenges in order to raise your rank to become the ultimate fruit hacking champion. Kinect for Xbox One holds up well in the face of your chopping and slicing, and as well as the Classic, Arcade, and Zen modes, a host of new game variations have been thrown in for good measure. At first glance, Fruit Ninja Kinect 2 is bright, colourful, fun to play, and ferociously addictive. So it stands to reason that an improved sequel should provide much the same in terms of quality, right?Ī quick look at the title would indeed back that theory up. Easy to get into, fun to play, and devilishly addictive, the game was ported from mobile platforms with aplomb by Halfbrick. There weren't a great many solid titles released for Microsoft's first foray into motion-controlled console gaming, but few could argue that Fruit Ninja Kinect was anything less than a cracking game. ![]()
